Frequently Asked Questions

Valley Creek Leadership Academy is an environment where student leaders gain a greater sense of who they are, who God is, and what they were created to do through a two-year experience. Our vision is to send out young adults to carry hope and lead wherever they go.

  • Leadership Focus: We impart leadership skills from a kingdom perspective in one-on-one and team-based environments.
  • Collaborative Community: Students will grow personally and relationally as they journey through the academy experience together.
  • Classroom Engagement: Our educational experience is designed to accelerate the growth of young leaders both spiritually and practically through workshops, assignments, and hands-on development.
  • Missional Service and Travel: We’ll partner with and experience the power of the global Church through investing in both local and foreign immersive mission opportunities.

Every student accepted to VCLA receives a $1770 scholarship award to SEU. This covers the cost of six credits per school year and satisfies the entire elective portion of the student’s degree program. This cost is already reflected in the tuition portion of the SEU Partner Page.

Yes. The Southeastern University (SEU) Partner Program does afford students the opportunity to apply for financial aid. The most common financial aid awards available are the federal Pell grant, subsidized and unsubsidized student loans, and the parent PLUS loan, all of which are obtained through the FAFSA application (fafsa.gov). Once the FAFSA is processed successfully, students will receive a tentative award letter from SEU’s Office of Student Financial Services that outlines their expected financial aid for the year.

For more information on how to apply for financial aid, visit https://www.seu.edu/financial.

Students are responsible for their own housing arrangements; however, upon request, we can put you in touch with potential “host families” that may be able to assist on a case-by-case basis.

Yes. Students will be able to work part-time on Fridays and Saturdays as long as it doesn’t interfere with outside reading and assignments (approximately 5-20 hours per week).

Every week looks different, but VCLA students should expect to be at our Flower Mound Campus Monday- Thursday, 9am-4pm. VCLA students also serve on Sundays from 7:30am-12:30pm and at Valley Creek Students each Wednesday from 6pm-9pm.

No. VCLA is not accredited. Valley Creek Church has partnered with Southeastern University (SEU), which is regionally accredited through Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSOC). This is the same Commission that accredits University of Florida, Auburn University, and Georgia Tech.

Southeastern University (SEU) has specific guidelines on credit acceptance from other colleges. Generally, SEU will accept credits from other regionally-accredited colleges; however, the transferability of credits depends on the student’s academic performance in those prior courses as well as the course equivalency into the student’s degree program at SEU.

In addition to their earned degree from Southeastern University (SEU), VCLA students will earn a certificate of completion, letters of recommendation, lasting relationships, depth of character, and a confidence in their next steps.

We’d love to set up a time to meet with you! Please email us at info@vcla.com, and a member of our team will connect with you soon.
